Drought hits the Paranã River in Goiás

Last week the communication vehicle & #8220; Lance Goiás & #8221; released videos and images of the drought that hit Parana River in the municipality of Flores de Goiás (GO).

According to the information reported, the floodgates were closed on Tuesday (22/08) and the river dried up at several points, which led to several fish to death and harmed the residents of the region. The reports on the site indicate that the gates were closed by the municipal government in order to carry out georeferencing work, but they would be reopened on 25/08.

The Rio Paranã It bathes the states of Goiás and Tocantins and is born near the Federal District, in the region of Formosa. Arriving in the state of Tocantins, it joins the Maranhão River and forms the Tocantins River. Currently, many of the Paranã River springs are in an advanced state of degradation due to the deforestation of Permanent Preservation Areas (APPs).
